Is Google a Grinch or a Good Guy?

A response to the article written in the Guardian on 13.12.07 - Is Google a Grinch or a good guy?

Why do you need Search Engine Optimisation?

Search Engine Optimisation can benefit almost every company, find out how.

Why do you need Search Engine Optimisation?

Reason 1 – Huge Marketplace

Every company wants more customers, sales or leads. The internet is a massive marketplace with millions of searches each day in the United Kingdom. Despite media scaremongering, customers are no longer worried about buying online – anything from books to mortgages. You do not need to sell products online to benefit from Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), as people are now searching for local services online more than ever.

Reason 2 – Your Competitors are Probably Investing

As the internet continues to grow in popularity, more and more companies are waking up to the idea of investing in SEO. Your company needs to start competing, or your competitors may be so far ahead in their strategy, your company will not be able to compete and outrank the competition.

Reason 3 – Long-term Free Advertising

Once you are ranking well for related search terms, your advertising is free! Your site will continue to get targeted visitors who are interested in what your company has to offer – until competitors invest. In such a case, you may be required to continue investing.

Reason 4 – Raising Costs of Paid Search

Paid search is getting more and more expensive. As online advertising grows, so too does the cost per click on your related terms. The higher the cost of a click, the more difficult it is to generate a good Return on Investment.

Reason 5 – Traffic that Trusts

People prefer natural search results. Approximately 75% of users click on the “Natural” search results, and the remaining percentage will be spread out between up to 11 competitors, equating to a tiny percentage of targeted visitors actually reaching your site.  Not only will you receive most of the traffic by ranking naturally, but you will also been seen as being number one in your industry. People trust search engines such as Google to provide relevant results, so if somebody was to search for “London Solicitors”, and your site appeared at the top of the results page, then in the mind of the searcher, your company is probably number one.
